Help me replace my VAIO tx650 screen (pics in thread)

Before I buy my new screen (old one went dim) I figured I'd try to see if I could get the old one out first. I got this far and now i'm stuck..... How do I get to the end of this wire? I need to unplug it somewhere, I just cent gfet to the end (I feel like I will break the computer if I pull any harder).

Can anyone help me?

thanks

It's more likely you have to remove the keyboard and the whole palm rest out to access to the connector from LCD to motherboard. I'm not familiar with the TX series, but that's how I did it for my S360. There is a big connector plugged into the motherboard and you may want to keep the inverter to connect to the new LCD. Again, it may vary

Yup. Removing the keyboard looks like it would do it.

Hey guys, thanks for the help... I think you are correct about removing the keyboard.

Now the problem is I am having trouble removing the keyboard. I have removed all the screws from the perimeter of the bottom and the keyboard/entire face of the computer is free around the edges and seems ready to lift off except for a part right by the touchpad/space bar/V and B and N keys that seems to be latched on pretty good. Is there another screw hiding somewhere? Do I just gently keep pulling on it (I have been trying this method for almost 10 minutes now and it does not seem to be working) or am I supposed to twist it maybe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

sometimes there are keyboard screws under the ram cover or hard drive cover. Have any pics from the bottom of the unit?

Agreed. It's gonna be a pain if they're glued in there tho.

Sorry for taking so long to update.... its been a long weekend.

Anyways, I pulled off the little rubber feet and nothing. I am fairly certain I have gotten all of the screws removed. I just need to figure out how to get the center part to release. Any ideas?

Posting pics will give us a better idea of what you are referring to.

I'm a little late to the party, but it almost looks like the cable disconnects at the end circled in the pic below. look at the right and left edges, are there little 'tabs' that can be pulled to release the cable? (kinda like a ZIF connector).

One more thing before I go drop $360 for a new screen..... is there any way to test this screen?

This is my original thread regarding my screen... http://www.notebookforums.com/thread202417.html

I'd hate to buy a new screen only to find out that my current one is fine and the problem exists elsewhere....

Any ideas? THX

I really want to thank everybody for the help, last night my screen finally came and I successfully installed it!!!!

Now I have another problem and I am not sure if it is related..... basically, the computer wont turn on. The battery is in and it is plugged into the wall but nothing happened when I push the buttons to power it on. Anyone have any ideas???

i am also stuck on removing the keyboard on a tx670. All screws removed but something seems to hold the keyboard under the b/n spacebar keys. I did not see any screws under those keys. No screws in memory compartment that I saw.

Any suggestions?
