okay, i have been looking for a while now for a decent performance portable hard drive to hold me over while i wait another year or so before buying a new laptop. my current machine has an Ultra ata 60g 7200rpm drive. i needed something with more storage for the games that i like to keep on my machine plus all of my ipod stuff. i ended up picking up a hitachi 7k200 2.5 sata drive as a portable hard drive to store my games and music/video files and was wondering if it was worth the money for the performance. i definitely want the performance for gaming, but since i can only use the drive via usb, am i getting much more out of it than i would a standard 5400 rpm portable drive? i figure once i upgrade to a new laptop, i'll probably just toss this drive into my ps3 for use. this is the same drive that dell is using in their new m1730s i believe. i wish there was a way to convert my inspiron 9100 to use sata... so is it worth the extra money or not because i'm using it with the usb?
