Hey,

Just bought my first Mac after 13 years as a windows user!

just wondering, I bought the new macbook with the 45nm 2.4ghz (santa rosa) platform

I wanted to upgrade the ram on it.

do these use special ram different from regular 667mhz ddr2?

can i just buy any notebook memory for the upgrade? or apple specific only? on the new macbook

like this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820141342

As long as the RAM fits you can use it. Most people that know how to replace RAM do not buy it from Apple for this reason. Newegg I believe has an entire section dedicated to RAM that fits the Apple notebooks.

And yea once I get some money I will be boosting the ram in my MBP as it has been boosted to being my workstation.

Any ddr2 667 ram will work in the mac notebooks. They dont have to be "Mac" specific. The ram in your link will work fine.

Just in case you need it. (Should be the same, as far as I know to previous models)

Also i would recommend getting Crucial ram or OWC ram for your Macbook or Macbook Pro.

I know it might not be that helpful cause it's sold out right now, but it may come back in stock soon. Great price for 4gb of Crucial ram!

Definitely let me know your findings. Gonna pull the trigger on some Crucial memory in a week or so but interested to know how g.skill preforms.

what everyone said..any 667 ddr2 will work..there are some REALLY good sellers on the bay that sell QUALITY ram (i have bought from them several times for a variety of machines)..funny how the prices of these things move in cycles..it is pretty cheap now, but with commodity prices as they are, it will impact it sooner rather than later

I just put some gskill cas4 ram in my 2.6 pyrene (or whatever the hell it is) 17" high def MBP and it works great, even is seen at cas4 timing.
