The Cheetah 15K.6 drives use Seagate's second-generation perpendicular magnetic recording technology and are said to offer a 28% increase in sustained transfer rates (now up to 164 MB/s) while using up to 61% less power when running. The new 3.5-inch enterprise drives have their platters spinning at 15,000 rpm, they have 16MB of cache and have a MTBF (mean time before failure) of 1.6 million hours. Available with either FC or SAS interfaces the Cheetah 15K.6 series drives will come in three flavors - 146, 300 and 450 GB. |
