I recently made a purchase for a new desktop from Newegg. Since I was getting all these parts, I decided to upgrade my laptop's memory, a Dell c600. I went to crucial, and found what I needed, and just got the crucial memory from Newegg. (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820148027)
I ordered 2 sticks of this just to make sure they were the same, my laptop already had 1 256 stick in it, but I just wanted to play it safe. When I put them in, it powered on to all three "lock" lights, and then went to just caps lock and scroll lock on for about 6 seconds, then powers down. I tried the 1 stick of old memory and 1 stick of new, just 1 of new in each slot, switched the slots I used for old and new, and nothing will let me boot into Windows. The best I've gotton thus far is when I use the 1 stick of old in the first slot, and a new stick (either one) in the second, it'll give me a memory error 2 times, and reduce the amount of useable memory to 256. All other configurations I tried just give me the caps and scroll lights. I have the most recent BIOS (A23). Is it possible that I just got 2 bad sticks of memory?
