I have gone back several times looking at the m9750. I love the look of it! But Alas, I am looking to the future.

if they would put a 8800 card in the m9750 they would sell alot of them... especially with a 2.4 ghz in it...
Probably! The next few months will be interesting!
oh yeah i would agree....

Will the 9800 be backward compatible? No one may know yet.
No ones knows about it yet. I don't know about the m9750 getting an m8800GTX yet though. Seems like Alienware is trying to clear their stock out of m9750's with the big price drop. They are for sure focusing on the upcoming m17x and basic m15x configs. But, there still is hope. They might be offering these upgrades for the m9750's after the m17x is out!

it would be nice if the 9800 cards would work in older models... what we need to do is get some with a m9750 and a m15x and switch the 8800 card into the m9750 and see if they are compatible and will work... then we would have a good reason to go to alienware for upgrades...

Just like prior to the release of the 8xxx series of mobile cards there are previews of Sager's top of the line model being "compatible" with the 9xxx series. However true this may be I think that the latest mobile cards from Nvidia use the same interface architecture it is just that either the motherboard or the current processors make it unlikely that an 8800 will work in the m9750. However I do not know whether anyone has tried this yet and just as in the past it is extremely hard to get your hands on an OEM card outside of going to whomever manufactured your computer and then it is likely that they will ask you send it in to be installed.

The Clevo 15" with 8800m GTX looks ridiculously thick...

*off topic* KOSHIN your avatar looks so similar to the vampire hunter D picture, are you aware?

Also the upcoming m17x will best the m15x by quite a bit given Alienwares past. This makes me wonder if a gaming system is better off situated within the realm of a larger platform and forgotten by the wee little screens?

i dont think a second 8800 card in SLI will show that much more improvement over a single card... probably not worth the extra thousand or two its going to cost you

I agree, 8800m gtxs in sli aren't showing a very impressive showing.

Why? AW just released a new BIOS fix yesterday. And it seems to have fixed the downclocking problems.

mine actualy has never had any problems, + i also called alienware, had them do that remote desktop check, (so i know that the buyer won't get a faulty machine), and after runnning tests (stressing gpu & cpu), there wore no over heating issues or any downclocking. i'm selling it because i relised i don't need that much power. check this thread.

I thought that i was goning to to heavy gamin on it, when i bought it, but then i relised that i don't really play that much/that many games.
