M1530 ordered

Ordered it yesterday - eagerly watching Dell.com to see if/when it will ship. They have an estimate of the 18th, but I know they are usually much faster. The only thing I worry about is that they might come out with T9x series processors or even worse, a video card upgrade days after I get mine!

I ordered mine Tuesday but canceled today. Tuesday, when I ordered they had a $499 off. Today they offer $599 off, although the price is a little higher. In the end I saved ~$90.

I am curious to see if the Penryn processors come out soon. The M1330, M1730, and 1720 offer the processor. I hope if they do offer it they will do a swap without the hassel of canceling and reordering.

I used the 250 off coupon and it ended upless than the 599 thing because the system with the 599 off is more to begin with due to it including the 3-year warranty and 200gb hd

I actually wanted the 3 years warranty this time. My first laptop was a 9300. I replaced so many parts on that thing. I gave up when the screen went flaky. I ordered another lcd screen off ebay and that didn't work. I took it as a sign.

I thought about that but it was already over my "allowed price" by a hair and I had to keep it down

Let me know when they ship yours and I'll do the same. I hope it's fast! I'm probably dreaming, but I go on vacation on Thursday, so it would be nice to get it before then.

Congrats... I love mine. Despite some of those that have had complaints, mine works great. I added my bluetooth card and 1 GB turbo memory that was in my 1520. Then I did a clean install of Vista, installed my applications and applied some tweaks. So far it's been a great system. Everyone that looks at it is impressed with it.

What's the deal with the turbo memory? Can it be purchased elsewhere?

Thanks

It sure can be and it's pretty cheap too.... Here's where I got mine.

It was easy to install. The instructions are in the Dell online manual. Just make sure you enable the flash cache module in the BIOS.

$32.99 from www.thenerds.net

I was checking the XPS website for the M1530 looking at processor selection when I came across this:

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250, T7700, and T7800 require a selection of 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS as your video card. Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, T9500, and T8300 require a selection of 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT as your video card.

I started a chat with a XPS sales rep about the inclusion of the T8300, T9300, and T9500 processors. He said that he didn't know why they were listed but would send a message to the web design group that they made a mistake.

That IS strange. We know that the 8600 is available with all of those processors, so none of that seems accurate. Maybe it is just a mistake.

However, I think I read somewhere that Dell has a 14 day exchange policy where you can send your laptop back for an exchange in the event that the specs increase.
Yeah, I talked to them about the exchange policy and they said it was 21 days. Curious how that works. If you purchase with rebates, coupons, and crap and then want to exchange system and then they don't offer the rebates are you screwed?

I imagine - if it's an upgrade, you pay the difference for the upgrade. If they offer a T9x series CPU for the same price as the previous T7x - it's probably a direct swap. Maybe you would have to pay shipping?
Does Dell do that, directly swap or do a price difference within the 21 day total satisfaction gurantee?

Damn - just found this code ?TQJZJ?Q79?W4L which allows for a $350 off m1330s and m1530s over $1599. Could have saved another $90......
Has yours shipped? Cancel that baby. I just saw that code and configuring mine again to see if there is a difference.
Still can't come up with a better deal than the deal that I originally configured.

Yeah, if you really want the 3-year warranty - the $599 deal is still the best.

I don't want to make mine take any longer by cancelling and re-ordering. Maybe I can get them to throw something in?

Shipped today - Est. arrival on Wednesday.
Excellent! Hoepfully mine will ship soon. The est ship date was the 19th but got bumped to the 18th. I got an e-mail from a Dell rep this weekend saying that he would request to manufacturing to put a rush on the order. I never requested that. I think it was from when I canceled my original order that created a case and have been tracking the whole purchase cycle.

Jfoster, who is delivering the package, DHL?
