yeah, dhl. Figures on the CPU- told ya!

I'll prob send it back but I'll wait a week or two just to make sure they don't come out with anything ELSE.

What is the performance difference between the two?
The penryn is 6mb cache, right?
The T9300 and T9500 series have 6mb cache, the T8100 and T8300 only have 3mb

Received it today. I've only got an hour or so on it (posting this with it now) but I think I like it. The touchpad is my only complaint so far, as it sometimes doesn't move im the smallest of increments.

I'm going to ask around about the performance increase between the T7800 and the T9500. The only spec differences that I can find are 4mb cache vs. 6mb cache. If I can find anything that points to a measurable increase in speed, I'll send this back for an exchange - if not, I'll keep it.

How much bloatware comes installed? Are you planning to clean it? http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157838

Trend Micro, fingerprint software, Dell help and their other apps (datasafe, wireless, webcam), google toolbar and couple of adobe apps. Not too too bad.
Once I decide if I am going to keep it or now, I'll likely clean it.

For some odd reason that code doesnt seem to work for me. Only this code H9QM$3H$972M93 for $200 is going through. Anyone else having this same issue?

Well guys. After I post this, I'm going to call dell to get this machine returned. The LCD is HORRIBLE. After only a couple of hours, my eyes are burning ad the grainyness is annoying. The worst part is that the right side of the screen is slightly dim, compared to the rest. It's like I'm sitting off to the side and the viewing angle is cutting out some of the brightness - but Im actually DIRECTLY in front of it.

I'm aware of the issues with the samsung screens and I've checked - this is indeed the Samsung SEC3350. It seems that Dell is STILL using these defective screens. I will tell them about this when I return it, giving them ONE chance to fix it. After that, refund time.

It's especially annoying that they still send these screens out, KNOWING that they are defective (IMO, a screen that does not display equal brightness from left/right is defective).

Here's what it looks like - total crap. I really cant believe that Dell is shipping these.

The picture does make it look even worse, but basically, this is what I am seeing...

Wow! Sorry to hear your pain. Ship it back, get your refund and invest elsewhere. That definitely changed my mind on this purchase but I do have 3 quick questions for you.

1) What screen resolution do you have?
2) Is the hard drive loud?
3) Is the optical drive loud?

Thanks!

That's a bummer. How did you verify that its a Samsung LCD? I don't know when mine will ship but I guess I better do some reading up with issues people are having with their systems. Is the LCD problem related to the M1530 or other models? What other known issues are out there for the M1530?

Device manager - monitor - properties - resources - hardware id (or something like that )

Im on the phone with them now. I was just going to cancel the order and re-order with the T9500, then hope for the best on the LCD. (they cant exchange if anything at all is different about the order, or I would want an exchange).

BUT, they really dont want me to cancel the order. They are willing to send me another new one with the same exact configuration and discount it $200. I'm worried that I will still get the same screen though... I might just try this and hope the LCD will be better or an LG screen. If its still messed up, it's going back for good.

Im on the phone with them now.. Instead of getting another T7800 machine, from the same stock with likely the same LCD, I'm just going to return it for a refund and re-order it with the T9500. At least then, if I have to get tech support to being another LCD out, I'll already have the T9500.

Man, should it really be THIS hard to get a quality laptop that costs over $2000??????

Curious, did it come with SP1 for Vista?

I doesn't look like it.

I ended up doinga refund on the laptop.

I reordered it exactly the same, except with the 200gb HD and a 3 year warranty for about $25 less than I paid before. Hopefully it comes with a good LCD, or I'll have them out to replace it

Is the 3MB to 6MB cache a big performance difference? I see that the price difference to upgrade to to the T9300 is about $125 over the T8300.

I'm starting to get restless. I have canceled this order twice now because of better deals since my first order. Each time I re-ordered the estimated ship date stayed the same (18th) although sometimes it would bump up to the 17th. This morning I checked and still the estimated ship date was today. Now I checked and its the 17th . I started this ordeal back on the 3/4.

Lol, Rockchok, I"m in the same boat.

Does anyone know if the differnce on the t8300 and the t9300 is really that big of a deal?

i got the t8300 just to save on some cash.. but if it really sucks that bad i would like to know and I"ll see if i can get a reorder.
