IBM T42 battery losing capacity in a short time

Thread Starter
I recently was sent an extended life battery from BTI (Battery Technology INC.) for my IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop after another battery from them went kaput on me after a few weeks of normal use. However, only after five weeks, the battery capacity has degraded from 73.26Wh to 35.55Wh, and I am getting only around 2 hours from full charge When I first got the battery i was getting from between 4 to 5 hours. I'm wondering if BTI's battery is the problem, or my notebook. Please help!

verify ur ac adapter output? did u charge the battery direct or via a dock?
or u probably just got a bad patch of batteries.

Let the battery run totally flat to the point where the computer shuts down (~5% charge) and then let it charge overnight... and report back on your batter health.

Exercise the Battery. Do not leave a charged battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks. Also, do not let a Li-On battery completely discharge. (Discharing is only for older batteries with memory effects)

i buy a ibm thinkpad t42 battery from lithium-batteries.net.have used two years..it's Average Run Time 3-4 hours
