AW price increase - Page 3

I am sorry, but I can't understand why you folks are even considering these AW machines at these prices, or the prices that they WERE at???

You know what? YOu can't blame this huge increase on the canadian dollar; the dollar has been fluctuating between 0.74 and 0.75 for weeks (months) now, and that's only a 50$ difference in the final price.

When the Radeon 9700 comes out, if there's another 200$ US price increase on top of that, no question, I'm buying elsewhere. Because then we'll be talking a 600-700$ price hike from that it was 3 days ago, I just can't afford these constant price hikes!!!!
This was why I really expect(ed) to see something today, a way of breaking it in with the increase and make the release look like a smaller increase.

My config today was $3,285 US, $154 more than my printout from a few weeks ago.

Although I think they will still raise it another $100-150 on release, they have $215 to work with on me. If it goes over $3,500 on my current config, with or without the 9700, I will be long gone.

One of two things is happening.

1 (likely) Some of the parts are in low supply and their suppliers are raising their prices.

2 (not so likely) AW is slowly raising their prices for the launch of the 9700 so that there is not a huge price hike when they roll it out. They may even re-introduce the wireless card at that time.

Alienware desktops are hot right now and the parts they use to make them are getting scarce. Thats why you see limited avaiablity all over the place.

Don't you mean laptop? We aren't talking about desktops....
