what do you use? i hate how nvidia got rid of the overclocking applet.

They still do it,download and install ntune from nvidia,it incorporates into the nvidia control panel and gives a lot more options incl overclocking,if the driver supports it.

But yeah,I have always hated nvidia's new style control panel and still do.

EDIT.pretty sure you can't adjust shader frequencies with ntune from memory,if you want to do that you will have to use rivatuner, from what I hear.

I don't agree with you, if the refrigeration is acceptable the overclock capability could be great. In the case of some Dell laptops, the frecuencies are setting lower than the reference values given for Nvidia, so you should "overclock" to this values with not significant temperature increase.

I've overclocked pretty much every notebook I've owned, whether the graphics were part of the motherboard or not..........just to see what differences there can be between stock and o/clocked in games.

My Vostro can be overclocked as high as the ddr2 memory will allow and there's no appreciable difference in heat....but there's next to no difference in games as well.

I haven't overclocked my XPS 1730 yet, because basically there's no need to and everything runs nice and stable as is.

I doubt you could damage anything in the 1530 from trying a bit of short term overclocking, the cooling system doesn't look that great, but no one seems to be complaining of excessive heat either, the core would just throttle down if it got to hot,the memory would be more worrying, especially long term,as its passively cooled.
