Sager 9262 RAID and SLI Qs

Thread Starter
I just bought the sager 9262 , I went with a single Nvidia 8800M GTX and single 200GB 7200rpm HDD because of money limits right now. Ive build my own PCs before, but Im a noob the the whole RAID and SLI stuff. My questiosn are:

If I bought another 200GB HDD, how would i install RAID 0?
If i bought another 8800M GTX, is it easy to make into SLI?

Thanks for your help, everyone! These forums helped me decide for a Sager over a Dell!

Im gonna let someone else answer the first question. The second question is still anyone guess as none of the clevo resellers are shipping their laptops with two
8800Ms. Hopefully in a week or so myself and others that purchased the laptop with two 8800Ms will be able to let you know how easy it is...

You need more than one hard drive to setup RAID.

He asked how he'd install it if he bought another drive to put in.

I'm curious about this as well. I think you need to replace a cable and enable it in the bios. Is that correct?

Not sure how the new ones do it, but a few years ago (circa 2004) you needed the RAID driver on an external floppy, and RAID needed to be enabled in your BIOS. The BIOS is still pretty similar nowadays so it will likely still need to be enabled in your BIOS. Since Sager hosts the RAID driver for the 9262 on their website, I'm willing to believe you'll need that driver to do it as well.

You should be provided with the necessary ribbon cables with your new computer, even if you didn't get two hdds.

Have you checked your users manual yet? I would think that the answers to both questions are there.

You need to

1. Enable RAID in the bios

2. Get into Raid Bios (usually F10 on startup)

3. Set the Stripe/Mirror section to Stripe.
Set the Stripe to 16kb, or 32kb. The larger you set the kb, the faster your raid will be BUT the larger you set the kb the less efficient use of hard drive space you will have.
Move you hard drives over to the array. The screen will show you your hard drives. You will need to move them over to the array.
At some point the Raid bios may ask you if you want to clean/wipe the drives. Say yes.
Exit the Raid bios.

4. F6 to setup third party drivers

5. Example: If you have 2 X 100 gig hard drives, it will show up as a 190 gig partition.
Set it up NTFS
Do the long, not the quick format. You want to format the partition
