Planning to pick up a used MBP off eBay...

Thread Starter
So I threw in the towel with my Alienware m9700 and I'm going Mac. I'm planning on getting a MacBook Pro. I will likely pick up a used one on eBay and I'm wondering what types of things I should ask the previous owner.

Are there common problems/issues that arise say 3/6/12 months after purchasing? Is there anything (like hinges) that tend to be a problem area? Since I won't be able to physically look at one before I buy it, I'm just hoping to avoid buying one that has signs of problems a few months down the road.

Any other advice would be very much appreciated as well!

Before picking one up off ebay check the refurbished section of the Apple store. You might be able to get a comparable or better deal.

I think cosmetic damage would be your main concern. Other than that, the only thing that really decays is the battery. The screen might lose brightness as well, but in general, it seems like Apple screens last pretty well (judging from my friends who have 4 year old Powerbooks).
