External USB dvd drive

Hi there ,
Decided to go on the Lenovo XS , I even just ordered one from the Leno outlet (hopefully everything will be OK with the order).

Now I just need to order an external slim USB DVD Drive.

I wanted to know if you know any good once.

My needs are :
1)DVD reader
2)Slim
3) The best of the cheap kind
4) Low power consumption
5) DVD Burner will be nice.

What do you say about that one i.e

Could always pick up an Xbox 360 HD drive if you're feeling adventurous. Add the right software and you have an external USB DVD/HD drive.

HD-DVD is dead man. I wouldn't go for it at all. You can find a good internal drive for reading and burning pretty much any format (other than Blu-Ray or HD-DVD of course) here. All you would need then is an external enclosure to hold it. There are plenty of options but here is one of them.

now that is one good idea.
but I want to save some money by giving up the burning option and take just a simple DVD\CD reader (The laptop is not my main computer anyway)
Can you recommend of this kiind of drive?

DVD Burners are less than thirty dollars. I doubt you'll find a CD Combo drive for much less than that, if at all. For example, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2&N=2010100005 notice the LiteOn Burner (3rd item) is only $1.00 more than the Combo Drive (item 2).

why is slim mandatory? those weren't so well reviewed, and carry at least $20 premium. you can get a flawless kit for $40-50.

I am going to carry it with me along the laptop on my rides everyday .

That is why slim is mandatory.

Also , I would not have a power supply other than my laptop's 8 cell battery USB.

Looks good. Pretty much the same functionality of the samsung drive minus reading and writing dvd-ram (pointless to many people). I'd go for it.
