4 GB on a Xi 1526

Hi, I've tried to put 4GB on my Xi 1526 ( with 7600Go) but it saw only 2 GB. By looking on internet I've discovered some thread about to put the alien ware bios 1.19w (m5750) to correct this. So on ! I did it !

Well the operation seems to be fine, but when I put my 4GB inside, the bios write that it found only 3329MB... Oo ? Why ?

Should I put the 2.07w bios from m5550 ??? Or is it normal ?

I specify that I use a linux ubuntu with 64 bit kernel so I can use really 4GB of memory (and I need it )

What's wrong ? Please help

i believe that this is an issue that fujitsu is looking into. u can try the bios from the m5550, but i heard that it was a miss&hit as well

the fujitsu support forum will be back on march 18th, we might get extra info by then

have u tried the Linux section?

cheers ...

Hmm you don't know if bios for m5550 or m5750 on alien ware notebook can see all memory ?

The problem come from bios, not os cause I'm using linux x64.
Some motherboard have a remap memory functionnality, but the m5750 bios I've putted on my fujitsu is a bit naked.

I did the same what you did. I put an Alienware BIOS v1.19w on my Amilo Pi 1536 and I got the same thing: 3329MB visible through BIOS. And I installed Windows 2008 Server (64-bit). Windows reported 4GB in computer properties and I was very happy, but it didn't last long. When I ran systeminfo I got the same: 3329MB. Task manager reports the same, as well.
So I was thinking the same as you: should I put v2.07w for the m5500 and will that solve the problem?
There are many posts on the Internet about this 4GB problem and the 945PM chipset, but still some people claim that their systems are able to use all the memory, and some people claim it's impossible... I'm really confused about all this.
