---Release Notes---

Wow, where to start! We finally have upon us, the FIRST MobileForce driver of 2008! It's been well into the making, and frankly, it's been too long. There have been improvements to the MobileForce tweaks since the last release, though nothing truly major or groundbreaking. The driver version/naming scheme for MobileForce drivers is going to be simplified from here on out, dropping the "M4" and "M6" designators, as they're fairly redundant. Overclocking with Dell GeForce 7-Series cards has changed, and has been exposed (see the MobileForce forum on NotebookForums.com for details on that) so once again, overclocking works, and as this driver, 174.31, seems to be a Mobile-Optimized driver, things are just that much better. Over 169.04/169.09, this driver has quite a few improvements, and definitely has some performance and visual quality advantages over its MobileForce predecessor. Take the driver for a spin, have fun, and report back!!!

---Other Information---

If you are updating your driver, please follow the directions in THIS THREAD. If you don't use follow these directions, and whine about problems with the driver not working properly, we're going to ask you to use follow these directions anyways, so please, update your driver properly . . . We will thank you later.

Please post RESPONSIBLY!!! We will answer your question as soon as possible.

MobileForce Driver Thread Layout v1.30
Fenuxx. Driver works great on my XPs M1730 - Windows XP SP2, 8700 SLI, 4-GB Ram.
Seems to work fine on My Asus Z71V (6600 vid card) as well. I haven't noticed any performance differences between 169.09 and this one so far.

Finally fixed my COD4 Graphic Issues with M1710 7950GTX, thanks Tony.

I've been running this driver for a bit now, the laptoptogo driver. I just noticed the Moblieforce driver and am planing to switch. I do have a question. Can I OC with this driver? I've tried ATTool and it does not seem to work.

You'll need to flash back to the stock (original Dell) BIOS in order to overclock in Windows, but yes, you'll be able to.

I have e aproblem actually with my Vista 64bit, when I install it it says the drivers don't have a good certificate and that I can't install the software unlease it hase one, or somthing like that, anyone know if that is just a sefty think in vista that you can turn off?
Hi Fenuxx - I have my XPS Gen2 in a dual-boot config (Vista and XP), I am using the 174.31 drivers for both OS's... I run my laptop to a DELL 24" HC flat panel display and on Vista I get 1920x1200 native no problem. However, with the XP side of things I get a desktop that "runs off the edges" - if you move your mouse, it will show you a little more desktop. I tried messing with scaling, resolutions, everything, but no dice. I have it at 1600 x 1200 for the time being and although it fits correctly, the image is not as sharp. Do you think going to the standard Dell drivers would solve this or is there any chance I can fix this and keep these drivers?

Thank you for any help you can provide..

I have the same issue. There is a short term fix. Boot up without the monitor attached then attached it and it will detect it right.
Ok, I'll try that... but is it ok to plug the DVI into the back of the computer while the computer is on? Would I need to leave the monitor off while I attach it and then turn it on? And does this fix stick after reboots? If it doesn't, it's probably not going to be worth it because i have a dual boot and reboot pretty often...

Thanks again for the help..

I don't know if its proper, but I plug my DVI in with the monitor on with no issues.

As for the reboot, I'm not sure. Originally I was using 174.31 from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ and after doing the boot then plug fix it held with reboots, but the 174.31 MobileForce driver did not hold with reboot. I have gone back to the laptopvideo driver, but have not fully tested it.

One thing I have notice with the laptopvideo driver is that there is a wired refresh visual glitch that the MobileForce driver did not have.

On a side note, is this DVI issue strictly an issue with the diver or is it a wired Dell implementation of the Nvida card that the driver does not like?

UPDATE:
I tried 174.70 and it was no change.
I found the Dell release of 174.31:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=246680

I installed the Dell 174.31 and me external LCD on the DVI port worked perfectly from the get go and the laptop LCD turns off when closed. I do notice that the visuals on my GUI are not as good as the MobileForce driver. Just an FYI I'm using WindowBlinds 6.

Fenuxx what driver source did you base your driver on?

It's technically based off the LaptopVideo2Go release, which (I think) itself is based on the Dell release (don't quote me on that, however). Strange, as everything you said DOESN'T work with the MobileForce release works fine for me on my M1710.

I just tried using my DVI connection a couple of hours ago with my Dell 1907FP LCD, and it works fine (at its native 1280x1024 resolution). The LCD lid shuts off, just like it would with a standard Dell driver as well.

I was only mentioning the LCD shutoff working with the Dell driver, I had not tested it with your driver. As for the DVI issue I'm not sure why, but its work with the Dell driver perfectly. I will keep testing and let you know. Also, the visual problem I mentioned was a setting with WindowBlinds, I'm still getting use to it.

Thanks!!!

Great driver by the way, runs COD4 sweet
the downclocking in 2D mode does not work. Driver forces my 2500M to max speeds all the time. oh, I have flashed back to factory locked rom (which now enables me to change clocks manualy). Any solutions?
Hey Tony nice driver i was only able to play with it briefly, but would you say this driver has got little bit of a leg up on the 169.04 driver?
Hi,

So far so good. Fixed my COD4 flashing gun problem. Now to try Gears of War! No wait a minute...Black screen lock up in D.I.R.T. One game fixed, another broken. I feel like going back to my 93.xx drivers....the only reason I upgraded was because of a message when I installed GOW that I need to update to at least 163.44. I was happy with my 93.xx. Will keep plugging away with these to see if problem persists. Thanks again

Thanks

I"m using the driver with a Precision M6300 with a Quadro FX 1600M video card. The notebook is docked and using an external Dell 2005FPW monitor.

I went through the instructions to properly remove the old driver and installed the new, selecting typical settings along the install path. I'm having a problem with the resolution on my external display (the internal display is just fine).

For some reason the default resolution after installation (and maximum resolution that can be selected during installation) was 1280 x 1024 despite the native resolution being 1680 x 1050. If I change it to 1680 x 1050 then the desktop is larger then the monitor and moving my mouse beyond the visible borders moves the desktop to display the remaining portion of the desktop. There is also a small (maybe 1/4 inch) unused/black border at the top and bottom. If I leave it at 1280x1024 then the picture seems stretched horizontally and the additional top and bottom border is also apparent.

What am I doing wrong?
