---Release Notes---

Wow, where to start! We finally have upon us, the FIRST MobileForce driver of 2008! It's been well into the making, and frankly, it's been too long. There have been improvements to the MobileForce tweaks since the last release, though nothing truly major or groundbreaking. The driver version/naming scheme for MobileForce drivers is going to be simplified from here on out, dropping the "M4" and "M6" designators, as they're fairly redundant. Overclocking with Dell GeForce 7-Series cards has changed, and has been exposed (see the MobileForce forum on NotebookForums.com for details on that) so once again, overclocking works, and as this driver, 174.31, seems to be a Mobile-Optimized driver, things are just that much better. Over 169.04/169.09, this driver has quite a few improvements, and definitely has some performance and visual quality advantages over its MobileForce predecessor. Take the driver for a spin, have fun, and report back!!!

---Other Information---

If you are updating your driver, please follow the directions in THIS THREAD. If you don't use follow these directions, and whine about problems with the driver not working properly, we're going to ask you to use follow these directions anyways, so please, update your driver properly . . . We will thank you later.

Please post RESPONSIBLY!!! We will answer your question as soon as possible.

Thanks a lot. Gotta try these. have been using 169.44 but since we cant use flashed bios am stuck at 425/575 clocks!!!!! still 169.44 were working great. these must be better.
i got 3dmar06 of 3911. 1k drop since no bios flash. but doesnt matter. actuallly gears of war was looking awesome with this compared 169.44 i was playing with earlier today.

recommended. thanks fenuxx.
read what the op wrote about the new drivers allowing software overclock with original GPU bios, and look for zzpulp's sig for link to bios etc

(edited as I saw Fennux had already posted this in the first post)

When I play game in resolutions other than 1920x1200, I keep getting the annoying icon saying display can be improved wanting me to change it back to 1920x1200.
If I flash my BIOS to stock clocks, will I find that the nVidia control panel on these drivers has overclocking built in? Or will I need to use RivaTuner/Ati Tool?

You'll need to use RivaTuner/ATiTools/nTune to overclock.

I've never gotten that message before, can you perhaps post a screenshot and I can take a look into it?
Fenuxx, thanks for the quick reply...

I actually JUST flashed the card (7800 GTX go) to unlock the clocks...is this new situation with overclocking-built-into-drivers here to stay? Do you forsee all of the upcoming drivers including this same capability? Does it make sense for me to flash back to stock speeds? I am on 169.04 and Vista right now and they run very stable...

thanks!

No one knows for sure how long this will last (stock BIOS usable to overclock) but for now, it works. Right now, I suggest doing what works for you. If you're happy with 169.04, stick with them.

One caveat, however, is that Windows Vista SP1 is upon us, and I've noticed that pre-SP1 drivers sometimes are finicky with SP1 machines, which is why I'm glad this driver came out, because I've had no "weird issues" with Vista SP1 and this driver.
thanks fenuxx...I didn't think SP1 was out already, are you referring to the release candidate? Where can I obtain what you have as i definitely would like to upgrade to SP1...

SP1 has been released, but not "officially" to the public, but was finalized and "Released to Manufacturing" (RTM'ed) in February. I got it by other means, but SP1 will be delivered via Windows Update sometime in April.

The best option I can guess would be to remove the NVIDIA Tray icon from your system tray.
Thats not the icon from system tray, it pops up after i change resolution.

Actually, SP1 IS out for download officially now: http://hardocp.com/news.html?news=Mz...VzaWFzdCwsLDE=

Anyways, I can't overclock with these drivers, though I have the hacked BIOS flashed onto my 7950GTX. ATITool and RivaTuner don't keep any clocks. I don't use nTune, though -- maybe I should give it a shot. Do I have to flash back to the stock BIOS to overclock? These drivers are pretty nice overall -- I get higher FPS in Company of Heroes, but lower in World in Conflict and CoD4. Could be partly because of the lack of overclock -- though my OC sucks anyways (card blows) -- so I kinda doubt it.

There's definitely an IQ improvement over 169.04, though. Seems to me that 169.04 was a bit smoother overall, IMHO -- there seems to be more noticeable "jumps" in framerate with the 174.31's. My max framerate went up in all games I tested, my min was generally about the same, and my average was down in most (except CoH -- where it was up in everything but min).

Overall they are keepers, I just want to try them with an overclock.

Yes

I am using Dell stcok 174.31 driver, and I have unlcok my GIO to 600/700. I am still at 600/700 and still can yse Riva Tuner to adjust clock speed. I do not see any reason of flash back to stock clock. This is my finding.

Sorry, I did not have spec at my sign. Have not come back for very long time, and they are gone... M1710 Vista
