T2500 2.0GHz
4GB Ram
Vista Ultimate 32.
7900GTX 512MB @ 600/7000
(I flash the BIO like year ago like nvflash.. something)

I use Riva Tuner V2.08 and default show I am at 600/700 and using 3DMax2006 system show I am at 600/702.

You shouldn't be able to actually overclock with a modded BIOS (unlocked for software overclocking). If you hard-flashed to certain clock speeds, then you'll still have the overclocks, but unless you've got the stock Dell BIOS, you can't overclock. I've tested this several times.

I've been doing research on this, and I can't come up with a single thing. I've NEVER gotten that message before, it must be unique to you. See if reinstalling the drivers helps (as always, using the stickied guide)?

The video modded was done when I first got the lappy. I nvflash to 600/700 under Wind XP time... maybe 1 to 2 year ago. I start the 3DMax 2006 pro and it show I am at 600/702. I turn on Riva Tuner and check for OCing and set the speed at 600/710. I restart the 3DMax2006 pro and it shows 600/712. I only have a small increase to 53xx.

If you have a screen shot, I can do it.

OK, so what you did was flash your card's BIOS with higher clockspeeds.

In that case, your overclocks will stick, and you don't have to worry about messing with RivaTuner, ATiTools, or nTune to change the clock frequencies.

Is there a new way of doing it now? I used to use coolbit back then until it needs BIO flash.

Well, as with the original unmodded 174.31, I can't get the auto downclocking to work, nor PowerMizer, its eating my battery life.

Other than that problem, this driver is the fastest driver I had ever had, I will just have to deal with the shorter battery life, lol.

yes, the driver is nice compare with the old ones.

Strange, PowerMizer works fine for me in both XP and Vista. Post up a screenshot of what your NVIDIA Control Panel looks like, if you could.

I've been out of the overclocking scene for a while...

I installed this on my 9400 (with one of the unlocked Juan BIOS). I installed nTune, but am unable to overclock...should I be able to overclock with this driver? It keeps reverting back to stock 375/507

Reading over the thread, it looks like we need to have the STOCK BIOS flashed, then we can software overclock with these drivers? What if I want to have 1.24V instead of the 1V?

With the newer drivers, you need to have the stock BIOS to OC. The last driver that seemed to work with the flashed BIOS was 169.04.

Ok, flashed stock BIOS...used nTune to bump up the clocks...highest I can get is 500/600 which is terrible...

Last time I was using the flashed BIOS (last year) I seem to recaqll I could get 600/800.

I guess that's because I had it at 1.24V?

I'm running Vista on my 9400 with the 7900GS.

Any way to get it to 1.24V ? Or do I need to go abck to older drivers?

I think you can change the volt with rivatuner.

You can always flash to the stock GeForce Go 7900 GTX BIOS. That BIOS has a 1.24v core voltage, and if you use the stock BIOS, you'll still have the ability to overclock via software.

ahhh...good thinking!

Will give that a try! Thanks!

Its just the unlock part of the bios that needs to be stock (locked)

At least I infer that as I have the 2D clocks boosted on mine and set it back to locked, and it works. See zzpulps sig for link to original bioses

Just downloaded an installed this, works great so. However, the nVidia Control Panel is missing a lot of settings - I can't do anything aside from adjust 3D app settings and configure multiple displays. I'd really like to have the LCD Scaling Menu back, since I'm kind of a stickler for having the proper aspect ratio when playing a game.

I'm running into a slight problem with 169.35: I'm not able to watch DVD's anymore due to an issue with the video card drivers. Will the 174.31 correct this?

Running great on my MSI GX-700, thanks alot!!!
