newbie question I dont see

A bit intimidating to post here. Hope I dont screw up protocals.
My problem: I want to use my Dell e1705 for BluRay viewing. Its a later build core 2 duo T7200 at 2.0, 2 x ddr 667, with 120 gig 5400 hd. This is a 32 bit operating system. I am using Vista Home premium. I installed an nvidia 7900 gs go to replace the ATI 1400 it came with. I replaced the dvd drive with a uj-110 blu ray reader. Then I bought a cyberlink software ultra edition to handle the bluray disks. THEN I tried to play a movie and found out that my 7900 gs card is barely sufficient but the drivers that come with it are absolutely inadequate. I'm learning a lot reading these forums (including how to change out the video card) but dont have yall's technical expertise by a long shot. My cyberlink software says I need a forceware update revision of 174.53 or higher but when I downloaded that, it said that the program couldn't find hardware to match that firmware? My current graphics card driver is 7.14.10.9686.

I thought perhaps by downloading your 174.31 modified that I might get this to work but the revision number is not high enough, right? Am I wasting my time? Or is there a solution to this situation? I have read a lot of posts about problems with the GTX cards even if I could find one. Everything else in this system is BD ready. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

174.31 is actually newer than 174.53. IIRC, 174.53 was originally released as a driver for the 9800GX2 only. Also, 175.16 is available for download, which is newer than BOTH of those drivers, and also seems to be a tad faster in games. I'd suggest trying them out HERE.

Don't get caught up with nVidia's driver numbering -- it makes no sense sometimes. A higher number does NOT mean a newer driver, and vice versa. Just look for what has been released the latest, and try that (which is 175.16, in MobileForce's case).
