Lag After a While of Gamplay

Hey all,

I've been experiencing severe lag in various games only after I've been playing for a while. When I close it and reopen it, sometimes it will be better and sometimes it won't. I have an HP Pavillion 2000 notebook with a Geforce 7150M.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the GPU or CPU overheating but there are no artifacts or anything, it just starts lagging. Any ideas?

Help would be appreciated.

There doesn't need to be artifacts for overheating. Prop up the back of your notebook with a piece of cardboard to get better ventilation. If that works, invest in a notebook cooler.

Since it looks like you've got an integrated video card, you could also be running into conflicts with memory usage. Your video card and system use the same memory, so if your system tries to allocate memory that your video card is currently using, that could cause the lags. One way to prevent them would be to make sure there aren't many (or any) additional programs that are running while you play.

Thanks for the great advice I ordered a stand/cooler combo thing from newegg. I also hadn't thought of the memory thing before but that definitely makes sense. I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks for all the help

I had a very similar gaming experience, did you blow out your vents with compressed air?
