hi guys i have a asus a6jc notebook.
I am having a major problem with the computer up.
every single time i reboot the computer or turn it on. it takes anywhere from 2 minutes of restarting it to 20 minutes until i get a good boot up.
When i turn the thing on i get all sorts of problems, always different. i will list them below.
1. I turn it on, the screen stays black but i get the boot up sound (when you first turn on the computer) but the screen just stays black (off)
2. I turn it on, the screen stays black and i dont get the boot up sound (the boot up sound being the little tune that is played when you first turn on the power button)
3. I turn it on, the screen comes on but it freezes at the ASUS logo screen right at the start.
4. I turn it on, the asus logo screen comes and goes, it starts to boot up but the screen just stays black (the screen is on, as it has a glow, but it is just blank)
5. I turn it on, the asus logo screen comes and goes, it starts to boot but then i get the "ntoskernal" (or whatever it is, cant remember) corrupt error.
6. I turn it on, the asus logo s screen comes and goes, it starts to boot but then i get a /system/config is corrupt error (or whatever it is).
7. It boots correctly and the computer works fine until i turn it off or reboot it.
so i just keep turning off and on the power until i finally get a successful boot up (sometimes being over 30 minutes later)
I can have it running for days with no problem although randomly (not very often) ill come in and the screen will be off (like in sleep mode) but i can not get it to turn on again so i have to reboot it.
It isnt just a bad copy of windows as i have reformated the drive, and reinstalled windows again (2 different copies of windows to make sure)
I cooked my hard drive at some stage and had to replace it, so a new hard drive and a new installation of windows again., still does the same thing. so cant be the hard drive.
I am not sure if its just my wishful thinking or something but it seems when i tilt the laptop as i am turning it on, i get it to turn on quicker (as in lifting the laptop up and tilting it in different directions.) so could it be a hardware problem? like the on switch or something? but that wouldnt explain all the errors would it?
or could it be i have a corrupt bios or someting? which i havnt tried doing anything about that as yet.
i would love to know your thoughts on this as it is really anoying haa.
sorry for such a long story.
p.s my notebook is a ASUS a6jc i believe as listed here www.vstech.com.au/produc...9&products_id=69
it seems exactly the same as that apart from mine has 1gb of ram instead of 512
I would try to find it on the asus website, but its crap and slow and doesnt actually work at the moment.
thanks in advance.

update, Although i dont know much about it, i have a feeling maybe
it could be the dvd burner? all the freezing problems are when the light on the burner is flashing (when you first turn the computer on).
then i was going to try to reinstall windows again to see if it would fix it, I had to keep it tilted to boot up the setup dvd then the computer would just randomy switch off as the setup was loading (i couldnt even get to the stage where it says welcome to setup).
if anyone knows how i get the case off this thing so i can look at the dvd burner connections and other connections, it would be a great help.
thanks./
