HP dv9000t - Vista Ultimate x64 4GB memory

So you've probably heard this problem and I've gone through all the solutions.

So these are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5600
Memory: Kingston DDR2 2GB 667MHz x2 (total 4GB)
Chipset: Intel i945PM (specs available here: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/945pm/index.htm)
BIOS version: F.29 (latest)

Now, it seems that although I have Vista Ultimate 64bit I still can't see all 4GBs of RAM available, now I've heard something about Memory Hole Remap that I have to turn-on in my BIOS but it seems like this feature is not available.
So question is:
1) Is it not available or is it just hidden from the normal user.
2) If it's not available how do I make HP put it in their next release
3) Any solution to this?

Thanks in advance!
George.

I bought it with 1GB and then upgraded it to 4GB.
One of the CS reps told me that is supports only up to 2GB and after a while of talking with him he said that it CAN support up to 4GB

there r lots of talk about this model supporting 4gigo ram. I have yet known someone that installed 4gigo ram in this model and got it to recognise them all. Users got caught between Intel/microsoft with each one swearing that the other is wrong. I tend to think that a correct bios version would fix it - meaning HP must officially say so (til now, they r still beating around the bushes)

cheers ...

Nope. Even Vista 64 bit will not necessarily see/utilize all your ram. In fact, 4gb ram will not necessarily have any advantage running Vista 64 bit versus 32 bit...here is a good article explaining this: http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/02/...hop/page5.html

There are good reasons (eventually) to run a 64bit OS...although not many quite yet...

If you are running MORE than 4gb ram, then a 64bit OS starts to shine, but for a notebook with a 4gb limit? Not so much.

I too think that the correct BIOS will fix it all, but the question is how do we make them to add memory hole remap in the bios?

And as to Vista x64, the OS is not worth upgrading to just because most of the apps are still 32bit and they all run under the 32bit emulator which probably makes everything much slower, but people need to start moving to 64bit so there's more demand for 64bit products.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to make HP add support for 4GB on my lap without having to go through the whole 3rd-world-support-representatives.

actually people r really moving to the vista64bits ... my take is that laptop manufacturers r running out of making their products attractive, there is only so much u can pack in a gpu, a cpu - 64bits will unlock the performance much more

cheers ...

I am here to say without a doubt you can run 4 gb ram. I am running 32 Vist Ultimate dual booting to server 2008. I have 4 gb showing on both operating systems.

That the 4gb is now "showing" on Vista 32bit is unfortunately mis-leading. SP1 enabled Vista to "see" the 4gb, but the 32 bit memory cap still remains, and you are not utilizing all of the 4gb in Vista 32, be it Home Premium, Business or ultimate.
