Windows FINALLY Acknnowledges 4gb ram in M90 After SP1 Update

For the longest time, my M90 only recognized 3.25 gb of RAM on my M90 even though it had 4 gb installed. After the service pack, it recognizes all 4 gb!!! Yay! Did anybody else notice this? This is for the 32bit version.

I heard it only shows 4gb, but utilizes the same amount as before.

That's a difference that makes no difference. The only benefit you get is to see a prettier number in that window. Internally, Windows is only able to use the 3.25 gigs, as before.

Agree. IF windows were to use all 4Gb, it would wreak all sorts of havoc with your hardware. Would be fun to watch, actually

yes, this is correct. they just got tired of people complaining that it didn't show 4 GB, you're still not utilizing 4 GB

yep brought the same thing up a few weeks ago, and yes it is still only 3.25 actually used.

It's a hardware limitation that was fixed in Santa Rosa laptops (i.e. most 2007 models and onwards)

For the laptops listed in your signature you will be limited to the 3.25gigs no matter what OS you use. In your case that's a chipset limitation. As the poster above said, that limitation was removed on the newest generation of Intel Santa Rosa chipsets.
