I was wondering if anyone had a fix for a problem I am having. I have a Toshiba 2675DVD that I use for Radio email abroad my boat. I am using a external hard drive to transfer Chart data from time to time. The USB port on the Toshiba is limted to 500ma and the drive I want use takes 700ma. Dose anyone have any Idea of some sort of a workaround of some kind? When I plug it in I get a message that says Power surge on hub port. It works fine on my other laptops any help would be very nice Thanks.

Do you have ac power on your boat if so get a usb hard drive that has its own power source ... or maybe one of those usb storage memory devices think you can get them up to 1 gig or maybe more ... how much data do you need?

Usb

Thank you for the advice, but I was trying to not add any more Cables. I have just add a wireless server for all the Navigations equipment. So I could get rid of wires in the pilothouse.
I have a enclosure the holds a 40gb hard drive and I was told by a friend about some setting in the bios that I could change to allow the port to put out more power.
