Buy m1530 now, or wait for Centrino 2?

I've been wanting to buy an m1530 for some time now, but I held off until they got the new 45nm processors in there. But now I'm wondering if I should wait a little bit longer to buy it with Intel's upcoming Centrino 2 platform.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

the next big advance will be the new Nehalem platform at the beginning of next year. Centrino 2 (also known as Montevina) is just a minor upgrade comparatively.

if you wait every 3 months something different will pop up

Technology is always changing, developing and growing. One could spend a lifetime waiting to make a purchase because of things looming on the horizon. I personally could see waiting if something is due out within a month or so. If it's further out and I need or want something now, I just buy it.

I'm sure that the 45 nm platform is an improvement, but let's face it, some things are more marketing. You may wait on something that may not make a huge performance inmprovement over what's readily available now.

Right now I'm still using my XPS 410 with a C2D 6600 CPU. There have been some improvements, but nothing earth shattering to make me go out and replace it yet.

If you want the XPS M1530, find a good deal and buy it. I, like many others, are extremely happy with it.

Thanks so much for all the advice everybody. I think I'm gonna go ahead and make the purchase.

One last question though...

Do you think there's any chance that Dell might upgrade the video card when they upgrade to Centrino 2 in June? If there were any kind of improvement, say an nVidia 8700GT, then I'd totally wait another few months.

Again, I know it's just speculation, but I'm just curious what your thoughts are.

If it's only gonna be a slight improvement with the Centrino 2 platform, then I'll buy now instead of waiting for that incremental upgrade.
