GPU temperature 105 degrees Celcius okay for gaming?

I have a single 7950 GeForce Go GTX card and under normal usage conditions the GPU is around the mid 70s. I use NVIDIA MonitorView to monitor my GPU temperature. When I go into the settings it says that 127 degrees Celcius is the alert threshold for the GPU. When I'm gaming it gets up to 105 degrees. Is this okay considering that the threshold is at 127 degrees? Will allowing the GPU temperature to get that hot lower the lifespan of the video card?

my single GPU doesnt go above 78 while gaming...

you need to artic silver your GPU and also take some compressed air and blow out your heat sinks and fans and get a program called Notebook hardware control which will allow you to turn ur fans to max performance while gaming which will control your temps...

Make sure monitorview works with the chipset you've got. I don't know what the standard is for the 7950, but most video cards would be toast by 105 degrees C. I've seen programs that miscalculate the temps though, so that's probably what's happening here. I don't think the m9750 uses an Nvidia chipset for SLI, so it may be reporting improperly.

I was thinking on the 7950 cards about 90 caused the card to slow down from the heat to keep the heat from cooking it...

Well I installed both RivaTuner and Everest and both report that my card is going over 100 C. Games seem to be running fine though but I'm just concerned that it's getting too hot.

Yeah, I'm concerned your chipset is going to be toast in about a month. I would highly recommend you clean out the vents, and apply some arctic silver 5.

i use ATItool for my GPU temp it seems to be right on...

ATI tool is the best, IMO.

I'd call Alienware.

Give tech support a call. They will help you troubleshoot the problem.

yeah ur GPU will die really fast if it keeps up to 100 degrees for an extended period...

127 degrees celcius?!? Did you get mixed up with fahrenheit?
127 degrees in fahrenheit is still too hot for the GPU.
Did you do any modifications on your computer?

127 fahrenheit is not that hot since ambient temp is around 70 degrees... the GPU and CPU are measured in Celcius...

It is measured in Celcius. I will definitely call Alienware support.
