cant access bio menu on external lcd

here's my issue, i mentioned earlier my laptop went dead, but i got it working finally. but no audio at all, it says no audio device. i did a clean reinstall on my i8600 and the audio drivers wont install at all either.

so i read that i need to check if my audio is enabled on the BIOS. so here's the issue...

i press F2 at startup, i cant view the menu on my laptop lcd since its cracked.
i have an external lcd but i press FN an F8, but the image wont transfer over to the external lcd

do you see anything on the external LCD?

did you try using the function + F(#) key? that usually toggles back adn forth between outputs...

yeah but it wont toggle in between the bios menu screen

you can only view bios once you power up for a few secs then press f2, to toggle to the external i then press FN/F8, which wont do it unless i get out of the bios menu

so i got it to work, but no sound, this morning i decided to do another clean reinstall, to see if it would work. bad idea, i get this clicking noise constantly from the left side ( i assume the hard drive) and utting in the reinstall cd's it wont load since i get the message to hard drive detected? so did it die on me? any idea for a budget 450 or so\HD for the i8600? thanks

8600 is still a great machine run the internal disagnostic to confirm that you have indeed a failing hard drive as it should fail all hard drive DST tests right away. and while your in there see if your getting sound as well.
