Hi,

This is my first post in Notebook forums. Thanks for such a great forum.

Well i'm about to order a fully Loaded XPS 1330, but i'm confused on wether to get the Slim or the normal LCD.Which one is better?? and If I choose the normal lcd will it differ in weight?? and what's the actual weight of this laptop?

Finally, is this laptop worth the cash or shall I go for the Macbook?? I prefer the XPS due to the better video card...i'm a bit confused!!!

Sorry for the dozens of question...

Regards.

The 1330 is very thin and light no matter what screen you get. It's about 4 lbs by my estimate....The LED-backlit screen is thinner, and much brighter, and has a much less impressive webcam. The LCD is like any other LCD, but it is still decently bright and has a normal laptop webcam.

Personally, I prefer the 1330 over the Macbook because it's lighter and IMO looks better. But it is really up to your personal preference.

get the LED, you'll love it in the end.

Its brighter and thinner. PLus it sheds a few oz. There's nothing wrong with that. I got mine because i wanted a thinner notebook and I'm 100% happy with the choice.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I think i'll go for the 1330 with LED although it looks a bit weird for me, for some reason i feel like it's a 4:3 screen not a 16:9 one...maybe it's just me..hehehehehehh

Another Question:

As far as I know the 1330 is configurable only with Vista which I absolutely Hate!!

So, shall I go ahead to format it and install XP once i receive it??

It is possible to do so and find all the drivers you need, but it will take some work finding all of them. Dell does host most of the drivers you'll need on their support site.

Yo, Thanks again bro..

Sure, I have no problems with that as I'm used to the Dell website since I had a Dell Dimenion 8200 Desktop..which i unfortunately threw in the garbage recently after the mobo and RAM died on me..heheheheheheheh

I currently have a Toshiba Qosmio G20, which is huge and totally unportable by any means

Sorry for asking alot of questions but this one just popped out in my head..

I have 47" Full HD LG LCD will the 8400 be able handle such LCD if i intended to use it? ( not all the time for sure ) & of course i'll have to buy a HDMI-DVI converter as far as i know from what i've read..

I run my M1330 with dual boot - Vista and XP. The best of both worlds.
