your so backwards. you don't know shit!

this is totally true.

sli 7950 gets 10k

I get 10k with 1 card.

and we get the same framerates in all games.

Read some reviews go to notebookcheck read some info about cards....

then go to anandtech and read their review with the 8800 vs sli 7950

or howabout nvidias own release info comparing the 8800 single gpu = to sli 7950's.

wtf.

get a grip.

stop posting until you know your shit

Yeah I agree with diefool here the 7950GTX SLI is history now, he beats that rig with his single 8800m GTX. Why not run Crysis on both I know diefool runs it at 1680x1050 DX9 High and with an average fps of around 36fps i think, try that on a 7950GTX SLI You have more than 10k diefool in 3D Mark 06 you have around 11500+ I think.

Yea the 79**'s are getting a tad old. They still have some juice left in them, but I think it depends on the user and what games they play. My single 7900GTX works just fine for me.

Anyway, what was this thread about again lol?

agree'd 79xx is old now. but still holds it own @dx9 games from 2006/2007

Let's compare apples to apples here. All things being equal, the benchmarks speak for themselves....

The single 8600m GT beats the 7950GTX in F.E.A.R.

fear is a crap coded game.

lol, i'm not gonna get in the whole video card epeen thing, mainly cuz i dont know a lot about the newer cards. BUT, wasnt fear used as a benchmark (still is) to test the latest and greatest cards?
I just finished playing crysis on my 7950 gtx and I have to say it ran a lot better when i bumped the shader down to low, and jack the resolution up and a couple things from medium to high and still ran great.

So I agree about the 7950 gtx losing to more shader intensive games, but I feel like I'd still rather have the higher resolution textures over a couple more lighting effects and bling.

Fear was a intensive game back in the 6800/7800 gtx card days and it's long been toppled by other more intensive games now like crysis.

I remember when I had my 9300 the 7800 gtx go still ran FEAR pretty well at maxed settings.

OMFG!!! Are you kidding me! You come up with an something every time Fear is not a "crap coded game" they still use it for benchmarks.

it is a crap coded game.

an something

lol

if it wasn't a crap coded game then the 7950 should be better than an 8600.....

duh.

Seriously, as has been said I don't know HOW many times now. Your 8700's are not, nor will EVER be, better than the 79x0 GTX at high resolutions. At low resolutions, sure, and in ePeenMark, sure.

The dead giveaway with F.E.A.R. is that a SINGLE 8600M can beat a 7950. Even if it is by 1FPS, there's no way. It doesn't have the memory bandwidth, shader power, or fillrate to compete. And neither do your 8700M's. What you have isn't downright HORRIBLE, but it certainly can't be classified as "superior" by any means. Yes, it has DX10 capability, which the 79x0's don't, but once DX10 actually takes off, your system all around won't have the horsepower (not just GPU power) to play anything at a playable resolution.

Huh? Who said that? Just kidding. Anyway, I don't want to look like a fanboy but I'm gonna have to agree with diefool here. Didn't you notice that I said adding 2XAA actually increased the framerate. Yeah, sure. Also, for the moment I am using the source engine in most of my games and the 8600/8700 get absolutely embarrassed in this case.

I will however agree with others as it seems to be true. The 8700 is an equivalent or better card in shader intensive engines.

Edit: And one other key point about those benchmarks is that every other component was not equal. The CPU was a 2.16 First-Gen Merom (7950 GTX) vs 2.4 GHz Second-Gen Merom (8600M GT)
The 7950 can beat the 8700 in SLI at 2005-06-07 games but more shader intensive games are coming out, and the 7 series don't have much of a shader advantage. DX10 is supposed to be ALOT faster than DX9 it's just no games are made DX10 only yet.
