This M1730 is the worst POS I have ever owned. - Page 2

post #21 of 146
Ive been wondering this for a while now. Does Dell offer 1730 drivers for XP or Vista only. Also how are the video drivers?

Ive seen lots of threads about stuttering and other video related issues

BTW I feel bad that you had such a bad experience w/ your 1730.

Die- Update your sig with the Clevo and its specs (show that thing off man- Watch ya doin'???)

they have drivers for both os's. when i installed xp onto the second hard drive, i was able to download all the drivers i needed. i havent heard anything about the drivers for xp in sli.

Too bad to hear, my M1730 runs beautifully. I assume your M1710 ran Crysis at 1920x1200 DX10 all High with 30-40 fps too? Or STALKER 1920x1200 all maxed out 70-130 fps Since you said no speed increase. This thing is fast. The SLI issues is mostly due to drivers, why not try the 174.31 drivers that solves many SLI issues for me. SLI runs great, needs some fiddling around to get it to work.

The overclocking of the CPU I don´t have a clue why it doesn´t stick, sounds like a BIOS issue, I only have the t7700 so.

Also I know Vista doesn´t work that well with games currently. I have myself thought of installing XP as the second OS.

I probably won't do Alienware either (not just because their parent company is Dell, I know that Alienware is a completely seperate entity). I just don't have the need for it anymore. Besides, most of the Lenovos I have looked at (and wanted) have the Quadro equivalent of the GeForce 8400M GS, which isn't like it's Intel graphics. It's no 8800M GTX, but it's not the worst in the world.

Me too, I've been very happy with it. My CPU and GPU temps are so cool I honestly am wondering if the nvidia panel is right or needs an offset

Really? I only get 11,700+ with one 8800 enabled

Sorry, I just had to run home at lunch and try it just to see what I get with SLI disabled.

Man, you must be smoking something!
I love this PC! the only thang I don't like about it is drivers. But the beta's are good enough for me! Download the damn hotfixes (or SP1) then reply back. I got a 600% performance increase than I did when I first got it. (No joke!)
There is not one game out there I can't run maxed at 1920x1200. (It may not be 60FPS tough usually around 38-45FPS) You could've got a shit-ass M1730 cause that guy sold it for $1900 dollars!!!!

Hell, I just wish mine would work at all, but sadly, that's not the case. CPU, mobo, or RAM, or any combination, if not all, of those are toast.

* Sigh *

Ohh, and my temps are maxed at 66C ( 7 hours of gears ) and idle 56C
