That's weird I'm using Windows XP pro and I didn't have to download msconfig. It depends on what version of Windows you have Khaled. good luck.

The video, crackling/skipping audio (popping sound) was a known issue with the initial Vista VIA controller SATA/RAID driver (later fixed in subsequent releases of the driver).

To fix problem associated with driver Update Discrete Serial ATA RAID controllers VT6420/1 ( VT6420VT6421 ) V-RAID 5.70A

You are not kidding are you? I've sent my lappy in 3 times already and Alienware couldn't fix it. Can't be...

I'll have to wait until the weekend when I get back my m5550 to see if the "skipping" issue is fixed yet. If not, I'll definitely try that.

Here is some info for you. Hope this helps.

Alienware:
This issue was partly addressed by Alienware in regards to the audio skipping (05/17/2007)
http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/a...i=&p_topview=1

VIA:
"Please note that there is a known issue with audio and/or video playback and the V-RAID driver v5.40A. Not all users experience this issue and it is still under investigation. The issue will be fixed in the next release of the V-RAID and Hyperion Pro drivers. For non-Vista Windows operating systems, we recommend using the V-RAID 5.30C package.
To create the driver disk for Windows installation, you need to copy the contents of the folder named DriverDisk in the zip file, but not the folder itself - just the contents. For further information, please read this article. "

Well, the thing is when I game, the audio is smooth, just the video...It skips and pauses every few seconds or so. Even on games as old as Halo 1 and Doom 3.

When I watch movies, none of these issues happen.
