M5750 - 18 Month Review

Summary - stunning

This will probably be my last post to this forum on this incredible machine.

As I sit here, looking at my silver workhorse I feel a little sad that it will soon be going. The keyboard now shines, indicating my keystroke pattern. There are a few scratches, maybe a couple of gouges.

It is still the fastest laptop in the company, especially after the 4GB upgrade.

It is very distinctive and noticeable, clients often comment on it, "You must be gamer" my reply "No...I need the performance"

I run this thing > 12 hours a day, I optimize thousands of portfolios daily, intense algorithms and lots of database load. I have doing that (on this machine) daily. Never a problem (that I could not fix)

As you may know (if you follow my posts). My company as recently been purchased and 'corporate IT' insist that AW is not kosher.
That migration is going to occur in the next two weeks, I will be given a 'secretary class' Dell, and this laptop disposed.

I do get a nice big ESX server though to pacify me.

BUT (against my will) I am now in the ma,rket for a new (personal) notebook. I may get a Macbook pro + a server grade dell at home. But... if I wanted a single machine them AW would be my choice.

If you are prepared to keep your notebook cool and maintain it (software and hardware) then BUY a AW.

Nice sentiments towards your m5750. I absolutely love mine as well, I love the speed, the beautiful screen and its slim chassis and its games plenty fast as far as I'm concerned I run a large excel financial spreadsheet and it's superb. Good luck with your change.

I picked up a MacBook pro at the weekend.
Very nice machine.
I will still be here, but in a different discussion group.

btw, My 5750 will still have a life when corporate give me the 'My First Laptop' dell. They plan to rack mount my laptop in the server room!

I also have a 5750 and its held up so well for me. I brought it to two LANs and played on it for hours at a time with no problems. I am however ready to upgrade the CPU to a core 2 duo which I will probably do if those CPUs ever drop in price.
