So here is the BIG question... Quadro 3600M in a M1710 - Page 15

I know. But I find information for bsel 945 chipset...but this is terrible...
I did not try still CPU another methods. (like setFSB,...)
Setfsb wont work, your only option is the pin modding.

Ok. May be you have help with this mod (image, guide on internet etc.)?
maybe this
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hard...ml#post4964438

check the last mod at the bottom of the post its for the t2500

humm come to think of it, you said you have a e1705 with a t2500? sorry no can do the chipset on it is 945pm or gm so chipset is limited to 667fsb which is the default for the t2500 so no 800fsb for you, you would need the 965 chip to reach 800fsb

Now I have problem---FX3600 in E1705 is overheating.
Temperature in FurMark more 77' C (I do not test more).
I replace termal paste but nothing effect. Fans on max.
GPU-Z say those same.
What wrong?
i dont know but 77c when benchmarking does not seem that bad unless previously it was not running as hot for the same benchmark
post #288 of 360
I read in this forum one guy have 76 C max with this card even with overclock ( http://www.notebookforums.com/thread216225-3.html ).
77 C going after 2-3minutes when run Furmark. And this not max,,,if further testing temp maybe over 85 C...but this is terrible.
76c while benchmarking or idle temp, i scrolled true the link you gave but did not see it could you tell me which user

i can't overclock much higher than 620/900, atitool starts showing artifacts from this point.
600/900 is a good artifact free sppot for me.
however, my temps @ 620/900 didn't get higher than ~76°.
3dmark06 @ 620/900 was 9774.
so in my case temps are really fine, only problem is artifacting from a certain clock.
could rise the benchmark score more with cpu oc. but i doubt it's worth the trouble.

Now I test now again card. Temperature over 82 C...

well i would say he is a lucky one, i really dont know what explain it, honestly i would have to check myself to find what is wrong aside from telling you that you might have done something wrong, like dust or the way you applied your paste or screwed it back together
post #292 of 360
I am assuming you aren't an dumb and did do everything right. You seem pretty knowledgable boombyte. Tell me this, does the bios / windows actually SEE that card? Or does it just say unknown video adapter?
If it does, then I think you are having a driver problem. This was happening with the 7950 go gtx's when the drivers weren't out for them, theyd overheat like mad and have horrible preformance.
I'm thinking either a bios flash of a 3600m with overclocks, new drivers (forcibly install them though), or both. Also be sure you have the 150W adapter at least, that card draws about 75W stock, as opposed to the 50W of and overclocked fx3500m and fx1600m.
I found out that the fx1600m isn't better than an fx3500m today!! But only barely. the 1600m probably runs anything on small reses slightly better actually.
No. Drivers install correct with no problem. All programs (GPU-Z, everest, Furmark) detected this card normal. Windows detected it also.
But I not have 150W adapter. May this is wrong?

And I find trouble with backlight also--
ilovetosled says

Heres the deal

I have a Dell precision M90 that the original video card died in

I managed to get a FX3600 for a good price

The card does fit in the notebook with a small case mod (break off one plastic tab) and your must install the led cable first as a few pins actually sit underneath the card

The card itself works great i installed the drivers for the M6300 and it works just fine.

The only problem is the M90 bios will not recognize the card
It just shows up as unknown video card in the system bios
So because of this the LCD dimming controls do not function
and the LCD is only at about 60% brightness which is a bit of a pain

However on external monitors it works just fine

Does anyone know a way to get the M90 system bios to see the card properly I sure would like to be able to turn up the brightness on my lcd

Thanks

-------------------------------

60% with 130W? My laptop have lowest backlight with 90W.
But M6300 working fine with 130W right?
Again--may be problem with overheating this is problem with power also (like backlight)?
Hmmmmmmm.

This whole thread has been dedicated to the problem. And I think the problem with the backlight is totally bios related and can't be fixed.

For the overheating, I really don't know. A lower adapter should put the card into low 3d clock settings which would make it COOLER. so, delima. very odd.

Although 75C isn't that high for heat, especially when benchmarking. Have you tried it with 3dmark05 yet to see how good it is?

This has been the issue with the card though since the beginning. If you make a switch of some kind you might be able to force the inverter to full brightness, then with a 150W adapter youd have the best e1705 ever. 75C isn't really overheating if you are benchmarking.
If it's at IDLE at 75C, then thats a bit of an issue. Try powermizer in the nvidia control panel?
Try powermizer in the nvidia control panel? What is?
Now I flash bios A10 and those same...no effect.
But when sensors says temperature going over 85 C then Everest say 70-71 C (like in A09 bios so those same with A10). I touch heatsink and think temperature not over 70 C...May be this trouble with not supported this card in bios?
You confident what when I plug 150W adapter then not problem with backlight? Somebody checking this?
No, the backlight problem will always be there, you need to do a hardmod to get it to work right.
the 150W adapter is just to allow the card to not downclock itself.

Not sure what's going on with your gpu, it seems crappy, and I really don't know what it could be, the heatsink will obviously be cooler but touching it seems like its fairly cool. You sure the thermal paste is making contact with the heatsink?

Powermizer just allows you to downclock for good idle temps, even still, 85C is too high for idling.
I think thermal paste contacted fine with heatsink. But I try again check this.
What is AUX temp in Everest?
Hardmod backlight? How this possible?

Test with Furmark.
7900GS give 8-12 FPS 1280x1024 without AF\AA
FX3600M give 55-61 FPS 1280x1024 no AF\AA
post #298 of 360
That.......is an amazing improvement for benching.

No idea what Aux would be...ram maybe?

The hardmod involves taking the inverter and the power to it and instead of it being wired to the gpu, have it wired directly to anything that provides the voltage it needs, and have some sort of circuit that allows you to adjust that voltage for brightness control, like a resistor pot with a nob or smth like that. essentially wiring it to bypass the gpu for brightness control. Smth I was going to do if I had found a fx3600m.
By the way, if you ever want to sell it I would LOVE to buy it.
I can sell it...but I have very interest tested card with more powerfull AC (130 or 150W). And but shipping from ebay this adapter so long...and need buy it... If you wish I can sell card now because now I not buy adapter yet. After buying adapter I can't sell it (only after testing or leave laptop to itself).
About test.
I have only result with this test and know what card have power (like 8800GXT).
I do not test card many time. Now I installed back 7900Gs.
Modify inverter is hard to me...need more knowledge.

I forgot--I install FX3600M drivers on up 7900Gs (after 7900Gs drivers) without deleted first 7900Gs driver.
