Family Member Passed Away Need Password??

Hi,

I have a family member who's husbands mother just passed away. She left behind her notebook. She has a Windows password set and no one knows the password. She has all contacts with names, address and number phone on her Outlook. They can't get into her pc to get that list so they can contact her friends and colleges of her unfortunate passing.

Anyone knows of a shop that offers service to crack her password?I am not asking anything illegal. They can provide a death certificate if needed to prove her death. They are in a bind.

Thanks for any responses.

Regards,

Ko

Is the Administrator account password-protected as well? Check by hitting ctrl+alt+del at the login screen...

If not, Geek Squad can do it, it takes them around 5 minutes.

You can go to ubcd4win.com and download the program there. There is also a step by step how to burn it to CD and once you do that you can boot from the cd. Once you boot from the CD you will see a windows like gui desktop with a start button, click on it and go to programs>password programs>NTPWEdit and click on (re)open. It will give you a list of all the users on the system and you can then click her account and set any password you like. Hope this helps, GL.

You can do it with a linux boot disks but if outlook actually stores the contacts in a file or something you wouldn't even need to crack the password. You could just mount the drive in linux or something.

You can go into safe mode and if the admin account is not passwrd protected you can go into the control panel and users and remove the password from there.

Ophcrack is a livecd that you could use - it's a small linux system that requires no installation, and works if all accounts are password protected.
