That is because your microwave (and alot of cordless phones as well) operate on the same frequency as 802.11b/g, which is 2.4Ghz.

I guess I am lucky, my microwave is on the other side of the fridge compared to my computer, and I am guessing the fridge blocks the signal. Not much you can do other than use 802.11a (operates at 5.0Ghz). I am not sure about 802.11n, but then again it's still not ratified, so who knows!!

Microwaves kill lots of things, not just my food lol.

But they say to try and have electronics with different frequencies much like kilroy said.

Last I saw a Intel T7600G 2.33GHz was before XMAS,around$500.00 is what one seller had them for.He was selling a few.Yes,very rare to come by.I believe the FSB bus is limited to 667MHz no matter what cpu you use.

Hi,

I have a M1710 with a Intel 4965 ABGN wlan card and when we had a Linksys WRT54G router,we had the same issue. But,since I bought aBelkin F5D8233-4 Wireless-N Broadband Router

(I bought this router at Walmart for $69.95),all of my lost signal or microwave issues went away.I would recommend you buy a draft N router if you don't currently have one.Improved range, signal quality, quicker page loads, and overall better reception throughout my house.Great for gaming.I was getting alot of lost packet issues where I would have to manually reset the router to work with the old Linksys router.Since I got the Belkin N router,I no longer have that issue while online gaming.(mostly play BF2142).

No its not worth the extra money for the T7600G.

Yeah I tried those already and was suprised when the clock speeds go up to 575/600 they stay there and do not come down. Maybe it works better on XP but on Vista they make it run 10C hotter than 167.45 when idle. Since I spend a lot of my time not playing games, that's a big deal for me.

For 1710 users with 7950GTXs I still gotta recommend 167.45 nothing beats it so far.

(sorry double post!)

I had a similar problem with cordless phone and Edimax router. But I have Intel 3945 ABG wireless in my 1710. So I guess N-router wouldn't help, correct ?

Blu-ray drives

What blu-ray drives will fit my 1710 without any issues? Any good place to get them at?
try getting them to replace the screen, you have nothing to lose by trying.

I love how the M1710 looks! If only there was a light up keyboard and nuberpad

I had a wireless av sender in my house and it killed my wireless on my laptop, to remedy the situation i changed the channel, have you tried doing that?
my m1710 came with major scuff marks and scratches and messed up motherboard. Dell came and replaced everything. Now it looks new and works great.

Notebook CD-ROMS are standard. Any slim blu-ray drive you can find will fit. That said, I don't think there are many (i.e. more than 2-4) drives out now in this footprint.

Definitely not worth it when you already have the T7600

Although if you could sell your processor for $250 - $350 the net wouldn't be that bad.

I will start working on a software solution to this shortly. There is a hardware fix however which involves flashing the BIOS on the card.

Oh, and its an issue for both XP and Vista. Need to test Linux next.

Spoke to dell - and after some convincing, they are replacing the screen. Luckily I am WPD certified so I can do this myself. However just to be safe I will have tech support on the phone with me (so it doesn't void the warranty).

I also noticed on the back of the lid there is the film for the nice black finish and it hasn't taken off yet. So all those "scratches" may just be very minor or nothing all together.
