Okay - typing on the new rig right now. No problems AT ALL
Gotta install that zalman fan controller back on the CPU. It's running full blast and killin me. Case fans are either very quiet, or being drowned out by the cpu hsf.

FINALLY got all drivers installed and fully updated winders. That is enough for tonight.

Got a bunch of Razer shyt I don't like...going back to logitech.

C-yall in the AM.

It feels great. The keys need to be 20-30% brighter.

My wife even likes the way the keys feel.

Going to do some OCing and benching, hopefully starting tonight.

Going straight to 3.4 on the E6750, and up from there. Lots of folks get 3.6 stable on older motherboards. Going to see if this X48 makes any difference.

Testing at 3.6. Going really well.

This board is simply a breeze to overclock. You'll like this screenshot....

We'll have to make a 1ghz club.

For our crazy overclocks.
He better be able to do over 3.6GHz. I was able to do 4.1GHz with my E6750 and X38 board. Never kept it that way though, unfortunately, as I'm paranoid of heat here (in AZ).

UPDATE:

Ran Prime last night for 12 hours @ 3.6. 3.6 stable @ 1.41v (BIOS). Core Temp reported max temps of 58C initially, then dropped to 54C after the first 2 hours (thermal paste cure).

Jacked it up to 4.0 (FSB 500) this morning @ 1.44. Booted right up and started running prime again.

Wife says she'll call if she sees BSOD.

Hey GB...all I'm doing is increasing FSB and Vcore...all other voltages/settings are still on auto (NB/SB/MEM). This BIOS is awesome....

I can't wait to see what that 9650 of yours will do under H20.

Tony - what did you end up sticking with on your OC?
I ended up just backing down to 3.20GHz (where it sits right now) @ 1.24v and 1600MHz FSB. It was literally no effort whatsoever.

EDIT: I was at 3.60GHz for a while (1.30v, 1800MHz FSB) but now that it's starting to get warmer here, I backed it down (again, fearful of heat, it is AZ after all).

You evidently played with your voltages quite a bit. I'm shooting from the hip and moving on...
Apparently, I was one of those "lucky" people who got a REALLY good overclocking version of the G0-stepping core. The telltale sign is the "auto" bootup voltage. Mine was something like 1.15v or around that at 2.66GHz (can't remember, and too lazy to go back and see ). I did some research on it online, and there are a few who have gotten those, which have a tremendous amount of voltage headroom. All about the research.

very nice clocks there. I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever gonna upgrade now.

OK. Got the E6750 stable at 4.0. My wife killed (accidentally) Prime while it was running this morning, but it had a good 4 hours. It was stable with 3dm06 as well.

I just booted @ 4.2 w/1.46v. Going to see what happens during stability runs....
