hey everyone,
i'm planning on getting a notebook soon and would like one with a 15.4" widescreen display with centrino technology...which notebook would be my best bet? I like the 3760, but are there any other brands out there that you would recommend?...i'm looking to spend around $2500...any advice would be appreciated...thanks!

Depends what you are looking for.

As someone suggested, ChemUSA resells an ASUS (the ASUS M3N / M3000N) centrino which has AMAZING battery life. I've heard reports of 8-10 hours with the additional battery. Of course this is with the Intel graphics. So for everything except gaming this would completely rock, though for gaming forget it. A well equipped one runs around the $1500 mark.

what about dothan? is that worth waiting for?
this notebook is upgradable later to dothan (up to 2.0ghz with the 400fsb)
the sonoma (centrino 2) will continue the line up higher but with 533 fsb and with pci-express support and will require a new motherboard (that comes out this fall)

For the languorous.

Specifically the 2056; although the 3470V (which appears to be of Clevo design) makes use of the M10.

http://www.powernotebooks.com/specia...3?model_id=328

"15" SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) TFT Active Matrix w/ATI RADEON 9700 4X AGP w/128MB DDR "
wow. throw the in the reported HP zdxxxx's (whatever the new WSXGA one is called) battery life of 2hrs 20mins..... we've got some big options/choices here.

Also take a look at Hypersonic's CX6 which has a centrino and 15.4 inch widescreen. IT also has an ATI 9700 128mb video card which is a killer gaming card; not to mention the fact you can get a 7200rpm 60GB hard drive on the laptop.
hypersonic is a bit over priced....chembook 2056 its just as good also has 7200 rpm hddrive option...
well the chembook has a widescreen (plus or minus depending what u prefer)
and has a 5+ battery life, as opposed to teh 4+ battery life of the 2056

I'm confused. The chembook in question is the 2056, right?
err

oops the widescreen one is the mitac 8050 (hypersonic cx7) 15.4" w, 5+ hr batt

the compal 56 (chembook 2056) is the 15" +4 batt
post #19 of 35
Oh yeah...the Mitac 8050 is also a really good machine. I hope ABS releases theirs soon.

chembooks suck. check their rating at www.resellerratings.com

try www.powernotebooks.com (power pro 5:6 model) if your looking for a 15' notebook

and the hypersonic cx6 if you'r looking for a 15.4' screen.
