THinking about buying this laptop

Being a student I like to buy a lappy small that I can carry around and perhaps do gaming from time to time. i'm from Canada so is this a good price for this config?

Its OK, but a couple of suggestions to drop the price:
- Cut the Blu Ray drive and go with DVD... unless you have a lot of Blu Ray movies, as it is probably not worth the price premium otherwise given that the screen resolution is < Full HD (unless you have a Full HD 1080 TV you are going to be hooking up to....).
- Unless you have a 64-bit operating system to install, cut the RAM back. In 32-bit Vista or XP you will not be able to address the full 4GB.

i was thinking about supersizing the hard drive to 320gb. the deal came with the blu ray drive so don't have a choice.

only problem is the video card could be better but dell doesn't offer upgrades.

yeah i'm using the 64bit, thx for the advice. i'm trying to make this baby into a tank for under 1500.

Looks good then! Wanna make it a 'tank', upgrade the hard drive to a 7200rpm model instead. It may require a downsize in drive capacity but you can always get an external hard drive later if meeded relatively cheaply.
