P4 EE can be bought 'aftermarket' and put in your 8890, if you really want to; It's in a standard desktop ZIF socket and is accessible without voiding warranty (as long as you take the normal precautions and don't damage anything). There was a thread or two discussing this, the final verdict in one was a heat issue causing the guy that experimented with this to go back to his regular P4. Of course that was before Henrik started up again on the max fans app, one may be able to try again.
As for Radeon 9700, that is motherboard change and I'm sure they'll have something during the next release cycle. New systems are released using the older system's cases a lot with Sager/Clevo (see the official 5690 and 8790 review posts by Adam). Me, I still use a GeForce II on my desktop PC and still happy (though I admit the screen is a 1024x768 LCD

), so am VERY happy with the 9600 on my now-rare 16" SXGA.
