My First Sager (NP9262)

Im sorry if this has already been asked, but im looking for a desktop replacement. I do alot of work in VS2k8, Maya, UnrealEd, etc... Usually all at once.

Ive been looking at 2 notebooks, a Dell XPS M1730, and a Sager NP9262. Im leaning toward the Sager, but im a little cautious, because I do not know the brand.

My build will be:
17" WSXGA+ LCD with Matte Finish Surface (1680X1050)
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6600 / 8MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB
Dual Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory SLI
Genuine MS Windows® XP Professional
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 X 2048MB
200GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
(Possibly another HD)

Will the build quality be up-to-par with other companies? (Dell, Leveno...)
Will the support from Sager match other compaines?
What problems have others faced with this model?

I heard a member here will be reviewing this model soon, so Ill definately wait till after that to make my purchase.

Thanks,

Great, looking forward to reading it.

I have another question, im trying to decide between dual core and quad core, I can afford the quad core, so money isnt an issue, im just curious about performance boost. I do alot of work, in alot of memory/cpu extensive programs, usually at the same time. (Graphic design, 3D Modeling, Game Developement, Programming).

Quad core processors are very new, and the technology isnt being used by alot of programs, but will having quad core speed up performance when running all these apps at once? And also make the computer more 'future proof'? (I plan on having it for at least as long as my current rig, ~6-7 years)

Thanks,

Hmmm.. Ive been reading reviews, and they are all either really good (perfect support, perfect service, etc..) or really bad (broken on delivery, horrible service/support).

Im really skeptic about buying from Sager, but id rather not buy a Dell... How many people here have bought from Sager, and whats your experience with tech support/customer service, quality of your notebook, (anything else youd like to comment on).

I really hope to buy from Sager, their computers have awesome specs for the price, but I dont want to throw away $3600.

Thanks,

I owned Sager's predecessor to the 9260: the 9860; the model was a lemon through several mobo iterations due to heat induced problems (at least that's what forum contributors said). The 9262 is an even bigger heat generator than the 9890 was and is still an unknown at this point, but I have my doubts. NBF discontinued the support forums for new Sager models at about the same time as the 9260 was introduced. Draw your own conclusions...

As for tech support, Sager's techs were substandard -- they took amost a full month to repair my notebook and when I got it back there were signs of sloppy work in several places. There were several others in the Sager forums that had similar support experiences. Dunno about Dell's support since I never had to use it with my old Inspiron, but Dell seems to be the better company IMO.
