Xps M1330 Vs M1550 Vs Hp 6500

Hi guys.

I am thinking about getting either the M1550 or M1330. I've read all kinds of online reviews, looked at specs, etc., ad nauseum.

What I am looking for in this post is USER OPINIONS from those of you who actually own any of these laptops and have used them for a while now.

Basically, I want to use it for entertainment (cd/dvd burning, movies, iTunes), productivity, net surfing, and some occasional gaming (desktop covers that base for me).

Thanks in advance!

So I can tell you this, Dell unabashedly ganked HP's design for their m13/15 serries.

That said, the HP will have more mature hardware/drivers because they've been building around this notebook style/platform for alot longer. Th HP's are MUCH sexier too.

That said the KB on the HP's SUCK especially compared to Dell's!!! find a picture of HP's right shift button, normally one of the, if not the largest button aside from the spacebar on HP's line is one of the smallest buttons in the layout!! And the keyboard sucks in general too for comfort and feel.

KB aside your looking at pretty much the same laptop thru and thru except HP uses tray Bru-ray/DVD while dell has a slot loader and HP's have the dock port which I cant understate how useful this can be when paired w/ their QuickDock!!!! But I could never get over the crappy KB and returned my HP to costco after 6 months....

Was gunna get the dell but after seeing it in person its not as sexy as I had hoped and not near HP's sexy for sure.

Well my opinion is opposite of archaliens, i think the M1330 is the sexiest laptop i have ever seen from any makers... not only that but i do not see at ALL how dell "unabashedly ganked" hp's design, they look nothing alike! Dell definitely took the finer points of sonys laptops for the M1330 design. The other dell and the HP u have listed are pretty bland looking laptops, i've never been a fan of HP's plastic laptops... M1330 has a nice sturdy metal palm rest and most of the chasis is metal as well. In all reality you really have to see for yourself which one you like better, but if ur looking for a powerful laptop as well as one that is very nice looking, the M1330 is the one for you.

You obviously dont know much about computer technology if you think dell's 13 and 15 xps line isnt ripped straight from HP's dv series. (Barrel Hinge, capacitance controls, ports offered/numbers/locations.... I could go on)

While aesthetics are personal choice, I think jayno will be in the minority.
He throws out HP plastic like the xps is titanium, c'mon now the xps has plastic aplenty to go around......

Uh i didnt say it was all metal now did i? and no i do not see where dell "ripped" anything from HP, if u look at a sony laptop yes, it is ripped pretty much straight from them. ANYWAY as i said before its a personal choice, HP laptops have been nothing but trouble for me where i work (dealing with laptops/desktop computer problems daily).

Seeing as dell and HP use Chinese ODM's as opposed to Sony's japanese odm I find it kinda hard to believe that any semi computer literate person could compare a sony to a dell over an HP especially in light of the bullets I previously posted.

We are all happy you like your Dell, but you obviously dont have a clue about hardware so please do this community a favor and quit posting like you do.

right... and u are the know all mr. HP fanboy.. give me a break, im the one who told the OP to check it out for himself not try to push an HP on him.

well lets see here... here are some pictures of the dv6500:

yeah i dont see the resemblance... now here's some shots of sony's SZ line which has the metal palm rests, wedge shape, led backlit display, barrel type hinge, and even right down to the chrome markings on the top of the lid:

so make the decision yourself, which one looks more like an m1330? i think its pretty obvious..

anyway this has gotten WAY off topic, to the OP like i said earlier the choice is really yours to make, i'd say give all of them a good testing and decide which one u like better..

Wow, seriously everyone, what's up with the negativity pervasive throughout the forums these days?

Can't everyone just take a deep breath and post something supportive and helpful for a change?

Sheesh.

1) Who cares if Dell copied HP or Sony or whatever? I'm not going to buy another company's product to pay "homage" to them.

2) To the original poster - I love my M1330. It is the perfect travel laptop, and has a great balance between small size, great keyboard, light gaming, and an absolutely fantastic screen. If portability is at all a concern for you, I'd definitely recommend the M1330.
