dell 1501 inspiron won't turn on

Help. I have a dell 1501 inspiron notebook. When I press the power button the lights to the left of the button flash on, i hear the fan and disk drive briefly then nothing. The power light that shows it is plugged in does stay lit up though so I'm pretty sure it's not the cord.

. any differences wih either ac or battery alone?

did you get your dell to turn on? my just started doing the same thing as you.
