why my XP Pro cd cant find the HDD when format?

Thread Starter
Hi, I have received a Toshiba U300 with Windows Vista pre-installed on it but I want to format it and reinstall the XP-Pro on it but when my Xp-Pro went to the format option it just cant see the HDD. Is there anything that i am missing? or do i have to do something for my XP pro cd to see the Vista HDD? I guess it's the HDD protection. Can anybody with more experiences show me how to format my HDD.
Thanks

sounded like the similar issue of Sata driver. Search the forum for "sata drive"/ "xp sata", lots of info as how to tackle this issue

cheers ...

I believe there is a new version of XP that has SATA driver built-in to the boot CD. I don't know about it - I only heard of it.

And the problem with your installation is the SATA driver.

Once you figure out how to get the SATA driver loaded, XP will install.

Just in case you do have more problems down the line of the installation.
Some hardware may not be compatible with Windows XP.
You may have to do your homework to make sure your laptop will work with XP.

It is an unspeakable crime that a few or some newer laptops will not run on XP.

Cheers
