Looking back on a possibly bigger probem...

Allow me to preface my question with the story of how it originated. I've had my sager 5680 since November of '03. When i first finished the installing and everything, the thing ran great. Then i tried to play some games (obviously) and this is where i have my problem. What I though it was at first was an overheating problem. During a game the thing would just shut off, completely. Then when i tried to turn it back on again, the system would go on (fans and all) but no boot screen would initiate. So after several tries it would eventually go on (after some time, which is why i thought it to be a temp. related problem). I though it was an overheating problem but then i figured maybe it was the new drivers for my viedocard i had just installed (Omega). Uninstalling and reinstalling the ones on the disk also proved to be no help. So then i talk to my friend who is like a master at computer stuff for some insight at what could be wrong. After trying a few things and getting the same old result, he speculated that there might be a memory msimatch with the motherboard (becuase its dual channel ddr memory) or a bad memory module or a bad motherboard.
So in my depression (ive had it for like 3 days) i email sager about my problem. They tell me to try switching the memory or take one out (basic elimination of a bad part procedure), and see it that works. What ended up working is just me switching the memory module seats and everything worked great. No overheats no shut down/power offs or anything, even the sandra stress test didnt shake it.
Now the thing is, that every once in awhile, i turn it on, and things are just messed up..like just either the video drivers didnt load right or the windows screens and taskbars are messed, or i get some boot blue screen of death telling me some weird crap, basically things just get messed up, but once i restart eveything is fine.
My question is that i want to know if there is a program that tests to see if your intermal circuitry of the comp is good. I have a feeling that maybe the memory was just an indicator to a bigger problem. Or if you guys have any other insight on ways that i could test the thing to see if there is truly a problem, i would love to hear it. Because it seems to me that just moving the memory could not fix this problem (even though it appeard to have thus far). But also keep in mind that this thing has run strong since the memory move around. I would love to hear what you have to speculate on this semi possible problem.
My spece follow:
P4 3.0Ghz HT
1024 Meg memory
win xp pro sp1
Radeo mobility 9600
and the base model mumber is the 5680

Thanks guys!

UPDATE 4/19/04

I have tested the memory using the program hotcpu and during this test i got a very interesting blue screen of death error, heres what is says:

A peroblem has been detected etc....

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Stop error follows... 0x00000004E etc...

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
COnstact system admin etc..

Search the forums or internet for Memtest or another memory testing program. You may want to consider a clean install of your OS and drivers (in the order stated in the manual). Does Sandra report all your hardware correctly?
