I have a Sager 4780-V Notebook. 3.2 GHz, 1GB RAM.
For about a month now the system with shut-down (black-screen, turn-off) within the first 8-minutes or so. I first was told that it could be the RAM (I have 2-512 MB DDR). I tested the RAM using MemTest86 and the RAM tested fine.
So in the morning I turn on the computer, and after a few minutes the RAM (step) fan turns on, but the main CPU fan (higher pitched) does not turn on. After around 8-minutes the system shuts down. After the shut-down when I push the power button the CPU fan immediately turns on (the temperature sensor seem to finally tell the Fan to turn on). About a month ago, it took only one push of the power button to restart the computer, but lately it is taking three-six pushes of the power button before the system will boot. The initial shut down does not "show-up" as an illegal (improper) windows shutdown; the system just re-boots. Once the system is re-booted, it will run indefinitely with the CPU fan cycling even so often.
How can I force a jump-start of the CPU fan? Any help would be appreciated.
