Aspire 5315-2875 with vista, able to change xpsp2?

Thread Starter
Hi, I have an Aspire 5315-2875 notebook that came with Vista and I wondered if this notebook could be changed to xpsp2?

I did this with my Travelmate 2480-2153 and have been very please with it. I have the Vista CD that I can upgrade to when I feel that there won't be difficulites with a couple of my programs and now the better half is wondering is this can be done with the newly acquired Aspire.

All comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Take a look at the Acer site and around the net with the list of drivers you have for your machine and see if you can find each one for XP

The best place to search for XP drivers for Acer laptops is at ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/notebook/
There are only Vista drivers for the most recent laptops but you may find XP ones for a bit older models that happen to match hardware on your laptop.
Also, keep in mind that oftentimes driver marked as Vista driver actually works for both Vista and XP or may contain versions for both (as well as 64-bit versions). If you see $CHICAGO$ in *.inf files that means driver definitely works with XP (not sure what XP 64-bit would use). $WINDOWS NT$ seems to be primarily Vista but I know that some of these at least work with XP. This is from the personal experience. YMMV.

Check the Canadian site too as it has lots of XP drivers. Make sure you take only the ones that are compatible with the hardware on your specific laptop
