before reinstalling vista recently, i had the same problem. for some reason the screen saver never kicked in, the screen would just shut off. before that i had the whole display driver stopped working message with the screensaver. i'm not sure why, but when i reinstalled vista, everything went back to normal. EXCEPT for one thing....the pictures screensaver (where you can choose your own pics to be displayed) is jacked up. when i try to go into the options menu, it tells me that my video card cant display anything but the normal options. that wasnt the case before. so i'm not sure if vista has some kind of bug with screensavers or what. you might also check your display settings and make sure that your screen isnt set to shut off before the screensaver has a chance to turn on.
