Sign up and get a login. If it works for your school, contact alienware and ask if you can get a rebate on your laptop. It worked for me and I got $150 credited to my bank account after I ordered.

Yep.

Both the g.Skill and Geil ram have the same timings, 5-5-5-15, they're both known companies and both have heat spreaders. I like black better personally.

The Geil ram is cheaper with a mail-in rebate, which one user says the company handling it doesn't like to give out.

I would need more than one person saying the company is not giving out the rebate to actually say that its a viable source... he may have sent the wrong UPC code with it...

That's nice... I'll try it after I get my lappy.
Btw, I bought the same GSkill ram as you. It has a black heatsink which looks pretty cool. Does it fit in the m15x though? or do you have to take off the heatsink?

Don't wait, do it now. You're actually supposed to use it as an instant-rebate/discount on checkout, so the quicker you claim the 5% the better.

And yes, it fits with the heatsink, you don't have to take it off.

Just called the RC and Kevin told me that it's too late to apply the discount. It would mean having to start the phase game all over again... and I know that I'm only on Phase 2, but I really want this m15x I'll do it afterwards if I still can. Thanks, Koshinn.

That's good to hear the GSkill RAM will fit in the slot with the black heatsink still on. I think it looks pretty cool.

Oh and I was told that I should hitting phase 3 by the end of today, since all the payments are finally finalized.

Yeah, I was in phase 3 or 4 when I asked for the discount. Is ~$150 worth spending 5 minutes to write an email to alienware? If you're making big bucks, it probably isn't. Otherwise, just do it. They won't set you back in the phase game.

Basically any business will grant you a discount after you've purchased an item as long as the discount was available at the time you purchased it. Like if a weekly ad comes out with a discount after you bought something, you might not be able to go to the store with the discount. But you still might. Basically, it's easier for them to just give you cash back then for you to return your item and re-buy it with the discount.
