New XPS M1530 Advice

So i recieved my dell xps m1530 yesterday. Specs:
T8300 2.4ghz
4gb ram
8600gt video card
320gb hd
3 year service/accidental
I took the computer out of the box, turned it on, and was prompted with a dialog box stating that windows had failed and when the program attempted to fix the problem, it could not. Hence, i could not access windows at all. After various attempts, i performed a factory default restore formatting hard drive etc, and this solved the problem letting me access windows.

Now, the computer is blazing fast, runs great, my only concern is that i question the integrity of the hard drive, i'm well versed in using computers, but i haven't used a ton of different ones. I feel that possibly the hard drive is performing poorly, it takes like 2 minutes to fully shut down, which is strange when i've heard of other people saying its very quick in startup/shut down.

What should i do? I realllly do not want to send my laptop back, i think i'm just going to call and see what they say.

Run Dell's diagnostics on the HDD--make sure the program says it's okay.
If you still have doubts, have a Dell tech look at it.

If a cpu fails, that sucks. Just get a new cpu.
If a fan fails, that sucks. Just get a new fan.
If a video card fails, that sucks. Just get a new video card.

If a hard drive fails, that royally sucks. Just get a new hard drive, reformat it, re-image it from the failed drive's image (you DID do that, right?), and/or reinstall all your old programs, re-load all your browser defaults (including remembered passwords), etc. And make sure you securely dispose of your last hard drive--don't want anyone performing some tech magic and reading the contents of your drive one last time, capturing personal info, now would we?

Get my point? Do what it takes to make your potential hard drive problem not a problem. Now.

test all your hardware, maby use de dell diagnostics or a 3rd party testing suite like Hyrens etc. test all your hardware, memory, cpu, harddrive, video card. if the tests do give any result you should be okay otherwise contact dell to replace the defective hardware
