laptop s-video output question

Thread Starter
will a laptop without a dedicated graphics card still play movies and videos through the s-video output to an acceptable standard?

ive been told that an "Integrated IntelĀ® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100" through the s-video output to a scart socket will not display very well on a 32 inch tv. is this true?

s-video is not very graphic intensive and i'd venture to say that ANY laptop within the past few years will output fine to a tv via an s-video cable.

here comes the caveats: a 32" lcd will be able to take a lot higher resolution than a bubble tube and will look nasty with a s-video input, but either way, you can lower the resolution. on a bubble tube, you have so little resolution to work with that any video card will work.

in short, s-video requires so little brain power that most setups will be fine via s-video if it looks fine on your laptop

Yeah, the S-Video is only 720 X 480 (NTSC) or 576 (PAL) so it is pretty low demand.

I had a 50 foot s-video cable running from my old desktop to my 40 inch LCD. Quality wasn't great...but it was watchable. I'd say it was like old VHS tape quality.
